Before you start, check your focus. If you have a case of monkey mind, it’ll pay to take a moment to settle it down. I find that the process of free writing in a journal allows me to bring order to my thoughts. Sometimes I’ll repeat a little mantra “you got this, you got this.” Other people report success employing breathing exercises, meditation, calming music, or doing something like putting of a focus cap to signal that they’re serious.
